Drat, PS.
(At least there looks to be enough info to make a start at porting it.)
Anybody have a GIMP translation for this (v2.6.7), or do I need to bodge through it on my own?

Gimp doesn't have adjustment layers, but if you duplicate the layer, select the tan and white as per the example and go colors>map>gradient map, then set the colourised layer to multiply it seems to do the same thing.
