This is all I use. Why is Photoshop regarded as de rigueur? PSP allows me to to do whatever I like quickly and easily I am used to it and know how to utilise it to its fullest.

Someone described it as being underpowered or something. What can PS do that PSP (in the right hands) can't?

Got Slack?

I read that the average person using photoshop is only using about 5% of the potential
power of that software.
Someone said too that it is used in Hollywood movies .. Disney etc ... but I cant
prove that.

There's nothing wrong with PSP. I occasionally use it when I want to fake something quick or if there's something I have to do and don't need to use CS5. I only started using CS5(extended) as I use it for work and so have got to grips with it as a result.

Now if you want the ulitmate in pictures and/or animation then you should try RenderMan. If you can get to grips with that then I'd be damn impressed. It's not cheap but what is these days.

RenderMan is used to create most of the visual effects in films and is an industry standard.

At the end of the day you work with what you are comfortable with.
