Got to say I am very surprised at some of the voting on this, quality fakes lagging behind simple and sub comp standard ones in some cases.

Surely the idea of a comp is that they are judged on the quality of work..........

Unfortunately it's usually like that on here. I sometimes wonder if people are looking at the same pics i am.

Unfortunately Deviant its seems to happen on all forums.

I use to think non fakirs might not understand the work gone in to some fakes, but in most cases its obvious there are either blind, doing it for spite or just voting solely on the thumbnail or else the bodyshot.
Its unfair on those fakirs that make the effort and spend time on Detail, Color,Light, Tone, Placing etc

Admittedly the host site is brutal and is not the best host for displaying the pics,

I suggest they copy each pic and view them as a slideshow and see my point.

I think what people vote for 80% of the time is the bodyshot.

What's wrong with the host site? All the pics are linked to each other and therefore CAN be viewed like a slideshow.
I've added a link to download them all as a zip file too.

The voting is usually a little strange but this time it seems totally out of whack. Maybe it should be restricted to only fakirs next time? We would get a small but much more qualified vote.

I dont think restricting voting to fakirs is the way to go.Personally I aint bothered about winning or losing as I view comps as an excuse to do a fake.I do however feel annoyed the the "spirit of competition" and fairness is abandoned by some.
As niner and I already said , voting for a fake cos of the bodyshot is not good enough.
In the end quality fakirs will say Fuck This and not enter again, which is a step backwards for comps.

I guess there is nothing that can be done but ask members to take their time and vote accordingly, but its doubtful that will happen.


As for the pic host jack, it dont centre the pics for proper viewing when you click on them initially, unlike imagevenue, imagebam etc.That hosts advertising along the top is off putting.

If fact what about changing the whole form of the competition.

1. Only fakirs can vote.
2. The vote is public.
3. Each fakir must leave a few lines explaining their decision. Positive criticism allowed.
4. We dispense with the poll function and fakir's vote for the top 3 in their post. You can't vote for your own.
5. Logos are included.

That's all I can think of at the moment.

I think restricting the voting to fakirs only would be counter productive. To exclude non-fakirs (who are in the majority) may send out the wrong signal. What we don't need is to unwittingly create a fakir/non-fakir culture. If I were a non-fakir and was prevented from voting I'd think hang on, you want me to comment on your work, you want me to thank you, but you don't want me to vote in a competition.

Maybe the way forward is to maintain the current format of the competition but introduce instead a secondary vote where that one is solely restricted to fakirs. Also, in the fakirs only vote your choice is made public and the reasoning behind your decision must be given. Then merge the results from both polls to create an outright winner.

Award the trophies as per the norm but in addition create a Fakirs Choice award based on the fake with the highest vote in the fakir only poll.

Well it's a just a suggestion.

For me personally, it's a matter of opinion. One person may look at a fake and think it is the a great fake, and an other person may think the fake isn't that good. People vote on the fake they like, I can't really see a problem. I understand [and I know] fakes can take time to make, but as I said, they vote for the fake they like. And I agree with roedma99, if you start to alienate users just because people think they vote wrong, that's wrong. I enter the comps and to be fair, the people choose to winner, second and third, and that's the way it should be.

Thanks for your input - fakesforyou, roadma99, niner, gazomg, deviant and FFY.

On the basis of what has been said this is the latest idea.

1. We have 1 competition with 2 separate award schemes.
2. The original competition stays exactly the same.
3. The new 'fakirs award competition' is conducted via posts to the thread. This way nobody should feel left out as they can see the posts.

I'm not going to reply to new posts for a couple of days to give other fakirs/members the chance to catch up with our ideas and partake if they would like to.

once again it's not an easy choice. I was planning on entering this one myself but found it difficult to come up with something I thought worthy of entering. I'm glad I didn't as it would have been easily out classed by what's on offer here.
